8 Exceptional Napa Sauvignon Blancs at 90+ Points

Compared to the nearly 25,000 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, the approximately 3,000 acres of Sauvignon Blanc planted in Napa Valley may seem paltry. Yet that ranks among the most significant plantings for one region in California. With wine consumers pining for high-quality, premium white wines, it's no surprise that Napa Valley, the United States' best-known wine region, is a leader with the grape. In our latest Tasting Highlights, we feature eight outstanding examples that scored 90 points or more on our 100-point scale.

The Rutherford subregion is regarded for its terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignons, but that's not all to be found here; it's home to three of the Sauvignon Blancs featured in this lineup. Two are from Round Pond Estate, which is in the heart of the appellation with an impressive 362 acres of vineyards. The sleek and polished Jannine Bovet Home Ranch Reserve bottling pays homage to matriarch Jannine MacDonnell's family, who have winemaking roots dating to the 1920s. The wine was barrel-fermented and -aged. Meanwhile, Round Pond's elegant and juicy estate bottling is made entirely in stainless steel, and it offers a mouthwatering style.

This edition also includes Clif Family's Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley RTE Blanc 2023, the top scorer, which is succulent with clementine and pineapple notes. Read on to get our score and full tasting note for this outstanding Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc and seven others.
