You may only think of Malbec when exploring Argentina’s wine scene, but winemakers Santiago Bernasconi and Federico Isgró, both with Italian heritage, have set out to bring Sangiovese back into the South American spotlight. Their new project, Bira Wines, has produced a range of impressive 2021 and 2022 bottlings from Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah vineyards, many of which were planted by the first Italian immigrants to Argentina many years ago.
